A lovely needle felted wool specimen of a Tiger Moth, ready to adorn your favorite wall.
This three dimensional moth was made using the process of needle felting, a form of sculpting where one uses special barbed needles to shape wool. The process involves making repeated jabs into wool batting or roving, causing the fibers to interlock and form felt. Different colors and felted pieces can be layered and attached, building up and shaping the desired three dimensional form.
This listing is for one moth, the one shown in my hand mounted to the peach background.
This moth is mounted with archival adhesive to a hand-painted slice of aspen wood. Before adhering the wool moth, the wood has also been treated on both sides with archival acrylic medium in a matte finish for extra protection.
Wall hanging measures approximately 2.5 inches in diameter.
Your felted moth comes ready to hang with a magnet, and is signed and dated on the back. You can hang it on your fridge, or use the metal thumb tack included to hang it on your wall! It will arrive lovingly packaged in a gift box with twine, ready for gift giving.
