Short-eared Owl Original Needle Felted Sculpture

This short-eared owl in flight was meticulously crafted by hand using the process of needle felting. The owl is mounted to a hand-painted circular wooden panel. 

Artwork measures 12" in diameter and 8" deep.

For those who are curious, needle felting is the process of using a special barbed needle to make repeated pokes into unspun wool fiber (usually batting or roving), causing the fibers to interlock and condense to form felt.
