This listing is for 1 oz. of merino wool roving with a micron count of 19. Merino wool is a beautiful material to work with and is known for its softness and gentle sheen. It has many uses in fiber and textile art such as needle felting, wet felting, nuno felting, spinning, weaving, and arm/giant knitting. Its softness makes it perfect for against-the-skin garments.

This color is Giverny, named after the home of and source of inspiration for Monet and his paintings. This blend contains a beautiful watercolor-like array of refreshing greens and blues. This listing is for 1 oz., which is the amount shown in the photograph. Larger amounts in continuous lengths can be ordered upon request.

Of all the wool I offer, this is my favorite for wet felting because of how quickly and easily it wet felts and the smooth felted finish it creates. I also enjoy using it in my needle felting practice for creating fine surface details. It's also wonderfully suited for two-dimensional needle felting, sometimes referred to as "wool painting." When using it for sculptural (three-dimensional) needle felting, I recommend working with it over a base of needle felting wool that has a bit more coarseness and crimp, such as my core wool batting or the other blended roving and batting available in my shop. This will allow the needle to grip more easily and the material to felt up faster.

This wool has been ethically sourced and is mulesing free. It is processed at DHG in Italy, and all dyes comply with the Oeko Tex Standard 100 parameters.
